It’s been an eventful first week so far, with the challenge being forced upon me before planned!
The riding has been some of the toughest I’ve ever experienced with extreme weather, crazy traffic, road conditions more in keeping with extreme off road and then to polish it off, the f###ing bike brown down too. Yes she spat the dummy and just stopped in the middle of F###ing nowhere. I had no signal for cries of help to the outside world, just stranded and left puffing and panting after pushing the bastard thing for about half a mile unti I was fortunate to receive some local assistance. We got her going again and at last I finally made it out of the mountains. The roads are still abysmal but conscious of losing time with the break down, I needed to push hard as I was determined to be back in Chandigarh by the following morning, marking one week of riding.
I did it, completed the loop and made it to the Top of the World – Khardungla; through the other side and back to Chandigarh all within the week.
It was a great sense of achievement and just what I needed to push me forward onto the next stage of the challenge, corner number 2 – Tezu, here I come.
